Finding favorites

The magnificent clouds have meant also some pretty impressive sunsets. Here's one just from around the corner. 



What would this blog be without some guest editors? This morning, Petra crawled back into bed after breakfast for a good long nap, so Kai and I played a game (called The Hedgehogs Get Revenge) and he also wrote out some of this favorites so far.

My first favorite thing so far is meeting friendly cats 🐱i have met 2 cats but the first was the friendliest.The first cat was orange and white, but the second cat was black and white.
My second favorite thing so far is exploring the neighborhood🏘
My third favorite thing so far is being lazy on the couch💤


Although the day was mostly rain, we managed one walk in the morning, and one quick bike ride in the afternoon to explore the neighborhood. Petra said that she liked how the houses were so colorful here, unlike back home. We looked around, and saw many different colors of houses: barn red, light yellow, bright yellow, light green, moss green, light blue, cream, brick,... Another thing she likes to do is do is to imagine which of the houses we go by would be her favorite. She has good, but expensive taste! We have both settled on a modern wood-framed house that's quite big but looks friendly. 

Kai has also found a favorite that he didn't get to mention. I've been relying on relatively easy foods so far, and putting some of my favorites in front of the kids. Today's newcomer was spinach crepes. I remember having eating contests at school on who could eat the most, because, they are very very tasty. Kai asked for seconds, and next time we place a food order, I think we'll get some more.

After the spinach crepes, another childhood favorite was discovered, this time on TV. We have enjoyed watching McGyver together. It's not all bad, and Kai and Petra like it both! I don't mind sitting to watch it with them, either.

 A few summers ago, I saw an advert in Helsinki that tried to catch the attention of consumers with some brutal honesty. It said: Summer - the best day of the year. For those not in the know, this refers to the frustrating lack of predictability as to when the "heat wave" (anything above 77F) might arrive. And similarly, the frustrating briefness of this warm happy time. Hence - it's the best day of the year.  But for the remaining seasons, there is another highlight - the first snow. 11.8.2008 - Tyttöenergian uudet ulottuvuudet

Mitä kuuluu, pitkästä aikaa? Et ole ehtinyt paljon blogia päivittää? - no, onhan tässä ollut kaikkea tekemistä. Muutettiin juuri, ja sitä ennen yritettiin täällä vähän remontoida. Nyt on ollut tavaroiden purkamista, ja keittiön viimeistelyä. Kaikkea pientä vielä tekemättä - seinien maalausta, yhden lattian vaihto matosta korkkiin, sellaista. Ihan kivalta alkaa näyttää. How are you? Long time... You haven't been blogging much recently? - Well, we've been kind of busy. We moved house just a few weeks ago, before that we were busy fixing up the place. Now we have been unpacking, finishing the kitchen. All kinds of small stuff still to be done - painting walls, changing out the carpet. But it's starting to look nice. 30.4.2006 - vappua!

No niin koitti tännekin kivat kesäilmat vihdoinkin. Lounaseväät kattoterassilla ovat oivallinen tapa katkaista muuten pitkät päivät. Tässä näyttää kovin aurinkoiselta, mutta varjopuolella on vähän viileää vielä. Finally! The warm summery days have arrived here too. Lunch on the sunny roof terrace is a great way to take a break in an otherwise long workday. This looks warm, even hot, but in the shade it is actually still a bit cool. Vappu on kuulemma Suomessa tänä vuonna lämmin ja poutainen! Miten hienoa! Täällä juhlittiin vappuaattoa meidän etupihalla grillaten. Tarjolla oli nakkeja ja perunasalaattia, vihreää salaattia ja jälkkäriksi mansikoita ja jäätelöä. Kavereita tuli niin paljon että tarvittiin naapureidenkin tuolit... Unohdin, harmi vain, ostaa ilmapalloja ja serpentiiniä. Ai niin, kyllä poksautettiin myös pari skumppapulloa. Sen verran siistit juhlat kylläkin, ettei ylioppilaslakkiin tullut yhtään uusia tahroja.
