A day of rain and a morning of sun
My legs are a little sore from all the walking yesterday getting the kids bikes picked up from different parts of town. But it was certainly worth it! This morning the sun was out and after breakfast we headed out for some fresh air, and the kids flew off on their bikes! Long trails by the river were inviting. The kids waited, sometimes turned back to see why I was taking so long. We made our way to a place where the river is dammed and checked out where kayaks can go into the river. The sides of the trails were filled with late summer flowers which people sometimes picked into small bunches to take home.
We're gradually getting into the right sleep and meal schedule. I've found that my default cooking accommodates about 4-5 people. So we keep being stuck in a cycle of soup leftovers that I seem unable to break. Soup's easy, with little dishes to do, and tasty, so it could be worse.
Our food delivery arrived yesterday, and it was the easiest trip considering we got a lot, enough to keep us going for a week. It was nicely delivered in a post-delivery van! Except we'll need more milk and yogurt very shortly. We're also eating our way through the ice cream flavors. We are now working on a black currant and white chocolate variety, which was delightful as a post-lunch treat. Petra admired its swirly presentation and general fanciness.
On our outing today we saw an old farm house that turns into a cafe on Sunday afternoons, so we plan to go by tomorrow again, if it doesn't rain.
The new rule with the TV is that we have to have a specific program to watch to turn it on. Yesterday's free-for-all was maybe a bit too much. Also, I didn't realize they have a whole channel of Simpsons :)
