9.8.2007 - linnareissu

Minne mennä? Sitä mietittiin Ideaparkin keskilattialla suuren kartan päällä. Muutamalla loikalla kun olisi voinut mennä Inarijärvelle, Ahvenanmaalle, Huippuvuorille taikka Minskiin. No, mentiin sitten Savonlinnan suuntaan.

Which way to go? We pondered that in the central square of the shopping town Ideapark. A hop and a skip and we could have been at lake Inari, in Aland, the Svalbards or Minsk. In the end we went in the Savonlinna direction.




Ajeltiin ihanimman järvi-Suomen kautta, välillä pysähtyen.
We drove through the most lovely lake country, making stops.



Kartasta katsoen Ruusuhovin majoitus näytti hyvältä - vähän päätieltä pois, veden äärellä... Kartanossa oli täyttä, mutta aittapuolella oli vapaata. Takana pilkottaa järvi, jossa oli valitettavasti jo yksi nakuna uiva mieslauma. Illallinen päärakennuksessa oli ihana, ja tasasimme jälkkäriksi rättänän.



The map suggested that this Ruusuhovi place would be nice: a bit off the main road, by the water. The manor was full, but the cottage by the lake had availability. The lake was unfortunately already infested with naked men. We had a nice dinner at the manor and shared a "rättänä" for dessert: a crisp rye tart with bilberry filling.



Olavinlinnan englanninkielisellä kierroksella oli vain muutama ihminen, ja pääsimme kiertämään kapeimpiinkin käytäviin ja torninhuippuihin. Hieno! Isompi sisäpiha oli täysin teltan kattama, sisällä teltassa viritettiin juuri flyygeliä illan oopperaa varten. Mutta meidän oli tarkoitus ehtiä vielä illaksi Helsinkiin.

The tour of St Olaf's castle was small, which allowed us to go and peek into the towers and go through narrow windy staircases. Great castle! The big inner yard was covered by a tent, inside which we heard a grand piano being tuned for the opera performance the same night. We, however, had plans to be back in Helsinki by then.



Kotimatkalta löytyi sitten hauskoja tuliaisia.
We found some fun and cool presents on the way back.



Illalla olimmekin taas kaupungissa, langattoman laajakaistan lämmittävässä valossa.
In the evening we were back again in the city, in the warming glow of wireless broadband.
