18.9.2005 - täysikuun juhla
Tänä viikonloppuna monet aasialaiset viettävät täyden kuun juhlaa, elonkorjuun täysikuun juhlaa. Viimeöinen kuu olikin tosi kirkas. Teimme pienen kulinaarisen kulttuurimatkan ja haimme hongkongilaisesta leipomosta minikokoisia kuukakkuja viemisiksi kaverien luo. Ohuen, koristeellisen kuoren alla piilee täyte, joka voi olla kuulemma pähkinöitä, lootustahnaa tai mustapaputahnaa. Mustapaputahna oli hyvää, lootus mietoa mutta ei kovin yllätyksellistä.
Last night the moon was full and very bright. In honour of the pan-asian Harvest Moon festival we did some culinary cultural experiencing and bought small moon cakes from a hongkongian bakery. Moon cakes have a thin dough skin with a paste-like stuffing of for example nuts or black bean or lotus. We liked the black bean a lot, lotus was mild and pleasant but not terribly interesting.
Eilen laitoimme myös olkkarin (taas) uuteen järjestykseen. Nörttiytemme on saanut vallan, ja toimme toisen työpöydän olohuoneeseen kuvien skannaamista ja muuta sellaista varten. Toinen makkari on nyt askarteluhuoneena, ja surkeassa jamassa. Noh, ensi viikolla on aikaa käydä sen kimppuun.
Yesterday we rearranged the great room (again). We have given into our geekdom and brought in a desk for the computers, which also has the scanner and the printer and some other bits. The sofa also switched around to the back wall.
Karoliina on ollut suloinen ja seurallinen koira, leikkinyt pihalla ja meidän kanssa, ja etsinyt Ramboa patjansa alta ja kaikkea sellaista.
Karoliina has been a sweet and sociable dog, played in the yard and searched for Rambo under her mattress and such.
