25.7. 2005 - perinteinen synttäribrunssi
Sunnuntaina pidin jo perinteeksi muodostuneen synttäribrunssin. Naapurit auttoivat ja Brian huolehti vohvelituotannosta ensi alkuun ja sen jälkeen grillistä. Meillä oli keltaista melonimehua tarjolla ja kahvia, hedelmiä ja marjoja ja salaattia ja leipää. Puolet pihasta oli onneksi varjossa, sillä auringossa oli tosi kuuma. Notkuimme tuoleilla ja vilteillä ja melkein kaikki saatiin syötyä. Karo torkkui puskassa ja nautti taputteluista ja rapsuista.
Tänään illalla menimme kävelylle Arastraderon suojelualueelle. Kävelimme polkuja villikauraketojen poikki auringonlämpimän oljen tuoksu nenässämme. Näimme hiirulaisia, haukkoja, peuroja, kaniineja ja yhden aika innostuneen kotikoiran....
We had a brunch party on sunday, something that I have done for my birthday for years already. The neighbours were very helpful and together we launched a good spread. Brian manned the waffle station at first and then the grill. We had yellow watermelon juice, coffee, fruit and berries, salad and bread. Half the garden was fortunately in the shade, the other side was sunny and very very hot. We lounged about on chairs and picnic blankets. Karo napped in a bush and enjoyed the occasional petting and treat.
This evening we went to the open space in Arastradero. We walked up a a path smelling the sunwarmed wild rye (or oats) and hearing the rustling of little mice. We also saw falcons, deer, rabbits and one fairly excited domestic dog.
